      February 17, 2010 11:30am-12:30pm Leadership Development Program Panel Denver Federal Center Building 67, DFC Rio Grande Room, Panel Speakers

      This presentation will feature a panel of graduates who will talk about their experience as participants in Management & Leadership Development Programs.  The panelists will touch on topics such as the application and selection process, program curriculum, certificates of completion, and career success stories.  If you're curious about these career enhancement opportunities, or thinking about applying for this kind of training opportunity, this session is just what you need!

      PANELISTS:
      Amy DeBisschop, Assistant District Director, Department of Labor Wage & Hour Division.  She participated in a Department-wide MDP and moved from a GS 12 to 13 after successful completion of her program.

      Ella Mae Herrera, Manger, Maintenance Services Division, Bureau of Reclamation.  She participated in a Bureau wide LDP and moved from a GS 13 to 14/15 after successful completion of her program.

      Jane Wang, Supervisory IT Specialist, Department of Labor Mine Safety & Health Administration.  She participated in an Agency-wide LDP and moved from a GS 12 to 13   after successful completion of her program.

      January 20, 2010 “The Assault on Affirmative Action”, 11:30am-12:30pm, National Park Service, Room 10B, 12795 W. Alameda Parkway, Lakewood, CO

      John Dulles will provide an historical overview and justification for affirmative action, assessing its impacts, and describing the legal and political attacks that have marginalized its current viability. It will also cover the strategies that have been devised to combat these attacks.

      Mr. Dulles retired in 2007, as the Regional Director of the United States Commission on Civil Rights’ Rocky Mountain Regional Office. His work included directing civil rights research and educational activities, and serving as the Commission’s principal representative and spokesperson for the region. He has led public hearings and published extensively on a wide variety of national issues, including: voting rights, immigration, law enforcement, employment, minority business enterprise, education, housing, Native American rights, Native Hawaiian land claims, civil rights enforcement and health care.

      December 4, 2009 Friday Night, 5:00pm-9:30pm MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the 2nd Annual DFC Holiday Party and Not-So-Silent Auction.

      The 2009 Holiday Party was a Huge Success was a huge success thanks to the talents of Event Chairs Kim Montoya and Pauline Gibson and the Chapter Executive Committee. FEW members and guests gathered for an evening of FEW, fun, food and fundraising. Merriment and networking (with the assistance of a fabulous Champagne Punch) started the evening followed by a wonderful dinner catered by A Perfect Setting Catering. Our "Not-So-Silent" Auction capped off the evening with Auctioneers Bethany Mills and Patt Franc giving a lively performance that kept the audience on their toes. After financier John Price hit the total button, the Chapter Scholarship, Membership and Leadership Development Programs will share in $2800 profit. We'd like to thank those business partners whose generous donations helped make the evening a success and ask that you patronize their establishments through out the year.  A list of of businesses can be found here.

      November 18, 2009 "Preparing for Your Annual Performance Appraisal" 11:30am-12:30pm Building 67, Denver Federal Center Rio Grande Room

      A panel of managers, supervisors and employees will provide an overview of how to prepare for your annual appraisal. The session will include suggestions on how to record and track accomplishments and activities during the year, what information management really needs, what to take into your meeting, and ideas on what methods work and what don't.       The Jefferson County League of Women Voters is back again! This year we're pleased to be able to offer attendees some exciting information on how the process of selecting and retaining judges takes place. Anthony challenged women in the early 20 th century to "become invincible" and convince the Federal government to pass the 19 th Amendment. This 20-minute illustrated presentation explores some of the strategic choices suffragists made, together, to achieve success – and the enfranchisement of half the U.S. citizenry. A discussion about the effect of these strategies on today's American women as well as a brief discussion of the 2010 theme "Writing Women Back into history, will follow.       April 1, 2009  Networking Meeting  Denver Federal Center, Building 810 Hayden King Powell Room  We’ll engage in some Networking exercises to help you hone your networking skills as part of our regular meeting.  Chapter President Cheryl Howley will lead the session.  More info

      March 4, 2009  Meeting was held at the Denver Federal Center GSA Remington Arms Conference Room in Building 41 TOPIC:  The Federal Women's Program is ALIVE!  Chapter Member and Businesswoman Carrolle Rushford provided a historical recap of the Federal Women’s program and insightful information on the status of the FWP today.  Those in attendance learned a lot about this program and how they can get involved in FEW to help keep the FWP moving forward. Overall a great session for members, FWPMs, SEPMs and others who were interested in learning more about the state of the Federal Government's Special Emphasis Programs.  These two documents about the status of women in Federal Service were discussed and provide great information for members, FWPMs, etc. Read More: Status of Women in Federal Service / OPM Status of Women in Federal Service

      February 18, 2009  Meeting was held at the Federal Highway Administration, W. Dakota Drive, Lakewood, CO  TOPIC:  RTP & NTP Scholarship Planning  Chapter Vice President Kim Montoya shared information on FEW's Scholarship Programs including how to apply for the National Training Program and Regional Training Program Scholarships.  Kim also provided information about FEW's Collegiate Scholarships.  These FEW Scholarship programs are often underutilized simply because members don't understand how easy it is to apply!  Please review this presentation….and perhaps the Regional Training Program on April 16-17 in Salt Lake City or the 40th NTP in Orlando July 20-24 will see you there as a scholarship recipient! Chapter Member and NRCS Human Resource Officer Lynne Price will provide outstanding and real-life tips on resume writing. Lynne is a seasoned Human Resource professional and can give you the real truth about what works and what doesn't in an effective resume. Need a career change?
